Dr. Yoon invented his painless declaw method over 30 years ago and to this date he is the only veterinarian in the entire country to perform this procedure. A traditional declawing is done by amputating the last joint on a cat's toe, thereby getting rid of the nail. It is painful, expensive, and the recovery time is long. Many states have outlawed it and many cat lovers, including Dr. Yoon himself, considers the traditional method as animal cruelty.
Dr. Yoon's painless method DOES NOT AMPUTATE. He skillfully takes just the nails off and uses a small electrocautery tool to seal the blood vessels, kills the quick tissue and deaden the nerve endings all in one quick step to prevent a new nail from growing back. We also give a two-week long acting antibiotic injection to prevent any infection. Our feline patients go home the very next morning with no limping, no bandages, no stitches, and no post-op medications. Dr. Yoon's method is also much quicker than the traditional method which means your pet will be under anesthesia for a shorter amount of time, minimizing the amount of risk. The aftercare is minimum - you do not need to change your kitty litter or apply any topical antibiotic ointment.
